Treatments for Uncontrollable Urinating – Urinary Incontinence

The woman may have to go through many tests and need to accept more than one treatment to cure this health problem. These are the common treatment for urinary incontinence:

  • Personal/behavior treatment. The main objective is to identify any cause of the leakage to happen and try to avoid it. Any condition which gives pressure in the abdomen/chest, also to pelvic supporter organs tissues will be identified. Patient is suggested to:
    • Lessen body weight
    • Prevent herself from constipate
    • Avoid lifting heavy things
    • Lessen beverages with caffeine like coffee, tea and some soda beverages
    • Treat the lung problems which cause extreme cough
    • Stop smoking
  • Training for bladder also will be done. Discharge urine at fix time like before exercise activity. Try to oppose the urge to go to the bathroom if feeling that the feeling is not at the scheduled time. Also identify urine of normal and not normal one.
  • Physical treatment. Usual example such as training Kegel, can help to strengthen the muscles those involved with urine output control system. There are more physical trainings which concentrate on the supporter muscles so the urine leakage will not happen. Your doctor can refer you to physiotherapist for this purpose.
  • Use of certain equipment/device. Sometimes equipment/device used to strengthen the pelvic muscles and prevents urine leakage. Among the ordinary to be used:
    • Weight cone which is placed in vaginal for some time in the day. One will shrink the muscles in vaginal with a view to prevent the weight cone from falling out. This equivalent to body building training only the muscles aimed is different. Gradually these muscles will become stronger.
    • Pessary device which is placed in vaginal act as wedge and also supporter to pelvic supporter tissues, it also capable of reducing leakage by pressing the urethra base.
  • Medicines. Usually this medicine control pelvic supporter muscles spasm/cramp. There are drugs to strengthen urethra and there are also medicines which control overactive bladder.
