How to Prevent Kidney Stones

Kidney stones or renal calculi is a frequent disease happening among adult compared to children. If a family has kidney stones history then the children would have high risks to get the same disease.

Kidney stones are formed from fine mineral nutrient which became hard in long durations. Kidney stones are formed from high calcium content, oxalate or uric acid in the urine. The kidney also could not provide enough water content to dilute these substances, causing it to form fine crystal lump and further slowly it will form kidney stones.

Facts about Kidney Stones

  • People who have a family history of stones or who had more than one stone are likely to develop another.
  • If a person is at risk for developing stones, the doctor may perform certain blood and urine tests. These tests will determine which factors can be best altered to reduce that risk.
  • Some patients will need medicines to prevent stones from forming.

Types of Gallstone

  • Cholesterol gall stones. Yellow color gallstones contain undissolved cholesterol, although it may contain other components such as calcium and bilirubin (weak red blood cell remnants). 80 percent of gallstones are cholesterol stones.
  • Pigmented gallstones. Small dark chocolate or black colored stones formed when there were too many bilirubin. It can be suffered by those who experience cirrhosis, biliary tract infection and sickle cell anaemia that produce excessive bilirubin.
