Skin Pigmentation (Brown Spots)
- A type of skin disorders.
- Affect the color of your skin.
- There are three common occurrences which are seborrhoeic keratoses, melasma (also known as chloasma) and skin tag;
- Seborrhoeic keratoses – raised, skin colored or light brown spots or like a growing mole.
- Melasma – a blotchy, brownish pigmentation, flat grey or brown spot on the skin.
- Skin Tag – Brown or grey, soft harmless lesions that appear to hang off the skin usually at armpit and neck.
- Pigmentation is harmless yet it causes individual skin to look dull and dirty.
- Treatment can be done by surgery (chemical peeling, laser resurfacing, dermabrasion, soft tissue fillers) or using cream spread.
- Individual aging 40 year old and up have higher risk to get pigmentation.
The Human Skin
- Skin is largest organ which weight around six pounds; skin have the role to protect muscles and human organ.
- Skin needs three vitamins: A, C and E to remain healthy.
- Balanced diet intake and additional nutrition is good to get healthy skin.
- Vitamin A, C and E, selenium and zinc are antioxidants that help to repair collagen and for skin whitening.
- Fatty acids (EFAs) are important as it forms layer that prevents skin humidity loss, important to overcome wrinkle and dry skin problem.
- Water is important for skin humidity.
- Human skin is divided into two major layers: dermis and epidermis .
- Scientifically, skin regulates body temperature, stores water, fat and vitamin D.
- Skin exposed to sunlight produce excess melanin pigment to protect from the UV emission, if excessively it will cause pigmentation.
- Stress problem such as eczema will harm skin.
Skincare
- Skin should be washed, protected with moisturizer and sunshade cream.
- Protect skin from sun light from 12 in the afternoon until 4 in the afternoon time.
- Use solar protection cream with SPF15 and up.
- If using makeup, use cosmetics with sunlight protection protector SPF15 and up.
- Do not smoke and stay away from cigarette smoke.
- Use moisturizing cream to prevent skin dryness.
- Sunlight containing UV radiation will accelerate the aging and pigmentation processes, so avoid exposing skin to the sunlight for too long.
